Writing At Riverlight
The writing center at Riverlight, under the direction of Jane Percy and Ruth Crocker, Writer-in-Residence, provides workshops, manuscript consultations, readings and writing groups to support and encourage writers at all levels of progress. A special feature of our writer support activities is a focus on mindfulness, meditation and practices that stimulate imagination and reflection.

Ruth W. Crocker is a writing coach and an award-winning author. Her essays have appeared in The Gettysburg Review, Grace Magazine, O-Dark-Thirty, T.A.P.S. Magazine, The Saturday Evening Post, several anthologies and in many on-line and print magazines. She is listed in Best American Essays 2013 and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2014. She writes about family, resilience, remembrance, the art of living and the writing process. She was recently honored by an invitation to the White House on Memorial Day, 2014, where she presented to President Obama her memoir, Those Who Remain: Remembrance and Reunion After War. She is the founder of Elm Grove Press, an independent press committed to publishing innovative work from emerging and established writers.
Ruth holds a PhD in Nutrition and Human Development from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Education and Counseling from Tufts University and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Bennington College. She lives in Mystic, Connecticut. www.ruthwcrocker.com www.elmgrovepress.org.
